Christmas is one of my favorite seasons of the year. Not because of the gifts, lights, food, and festivities, but because it brings me back to basics.
At Christmas we come back to Jesus, our Savior. God made good on His promise to humanity to save them from their sin.
At Christmas we also come back to generosity. How we can bring joy, hope, love, and peace to lives around us. It may be through a gift, or food, or simply a hug. But Christmas is that holiday where we all reflect the heart of God just a bit more.
At Christmas we also come back to simplicity. We come back to what matters most in life. It's not the stuff we have or even can give away. It's the lives we can impact and change for Jesus. What a great way to end the year with our eyes on Jesus!
So as you enter this season remember this: Jesus is still the Savior, you are still His hands and feet to be used by God, and people matter to God. Some will be depressed, some oppressed, others at rest, but Jesus is what every man needs. "Joy to the world, the Lord has come!"
